Milk Mustache Mania says the shoot took place in Hollywood on the set of Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me, after the studio asked about a milk mustache tie-in to the sequel. The original plan was to photograph Mike Myers as both Austin Powers and Dr. Evil side by side, but the Dr. Evil makeup took too long to apply for both in one day, so only Austin Powers was shot. The crew arrived around 1 p.m. while Myers and Heather Graham filmed scenes in Austin's psychedelic bachelor pad, expecting a few hours' delay; filming ended twelve hours later. The book says Myers was still energized and stayed in character for the whole photo shoot, and at one point broke character to laugh at one of his own jokes.
